How Fundamental Cultural Mechanisms are Changing - YouTube Ethnography
In the last six months YouTube has produced more content that all U.S. television networks in the last 60 years combined. 88% of this is new original programming (better than the networks) and some of it award winning (all without producers and inexpensive).
More importantly the 9000 hours of content added each day to YouTube demonstrates a significant change in how we form communities and define our existence.
This lecture by Michael Wesch vividly presents this.
